Praise Despite Pain

It's real easy to worship God when everything is just peachy and going great. But what about the days when you just can't seem to get a good reception to the prayer receptors of heaven? It seems like God has abandoned you and left you hung out to dry. Everything is going wrong in your life, but God seems to be further off then ever before. How do you worship God then? The deepest levels of worship happen when you praise God despite pain, thank Him despite trials, surrender to Him in the middle of suffering, trust him in temptation, and love him when he seems distant. You will not always feel close to God. God took pleasure in calling King David a "man after my own heart" (1 Samuel 13:14). Yet David repeatedly complained of God's apparent absence from him:

Psalm 10:1
"Why, O Lord , do you stand far away? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?"

Psalm 22:1
"My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning?"

But despite the feeling of loneliness and abandonment, God has promised to "NEVER leave you NOR forsake you" (Deuteronomy 31:8). He is with you. Though He may be silent, He is there. Praise Him despite the silence and watch your faith grow.
